Seven of our dorm students were involved in the Drama class’s presentation of Cafe Murder, written by Nathan Hartswick.  Both evenings started out with a ‘by donation’ Chicken Alfredo meal hosted by the student council members.  Guests were seated and waited on by freshman and sophomore StuCo members with drink options, salad, and dinner roll.  The main course was brought in by Juniors and Senior StuCo members.  A refreshing scoop of rainbow sherbet and wafer cookie completed the menu.

Once the dinner was complete and cleared, the cast was introduced by the drama teacher, Mrs. Bonnie U. It was a play of hilarity, a “who done it” affair. Each member of the cast played an exaggeration on his/her own personality. The storyline centered around “Rosemary” who is celebrating her birthday at this prestigious restaurant, Cafe Murder. The plot thickens when Rosemary steps out to use the ladies room but doesn’t return. An inspector is called and discovers that Rosemary is dead. He must interview each of the Cafe patrons to discover the culprit.

To increase the flavor of the play, the cast members come down from the stage and move from table to table. Each guest table had a list of questions that the cast had been scripted to answer. This was the best part of the play! Once the cast had been interviewed by each table, the guests were to deliberate on who had murdered Rosemary.

The unexpected twist at the end found Rosemary walking back into the restaurant and everyone groaning! It was the waitress whose attempt was foiled, apparently no one is allergic to water.

Well done, drama class!
