What is it like living in the dorm?2018-08-24T10:22:30-06:00

The Dorm exists to provide a nurturing, Christian environment for students to encourage their spiritual, academic, and overall growth through consistently demonstrating Christ to them through discipline and example. In keeping with the mission of LCHS to provide a Christian education, the Dorm Staff strive to afford dorm students a quality Christian family/home environment in every way possible in the dorm situation.

Will I have my own room?2018-08-24T10:22:30-06:00

Bedrooms can accommodate two students, so your rooming situation will depend on enrollment and other factors. If you have concerns, they can be discussed with the dorm parents.

What items do I need to bring?2018-08-24T10:22:30-06:00

— bedding for single bed: sheets, blankets, pillows
— bath towels, washcloths, bath robe, night clothes/pajamas
— bedroom necessities: closet hangers, bedside alarm clock, wall decorations
— bathroom effects: shampoo & conditioner, deodorant, body soap, hair accessories, etc
— winter clothing: coat, boots, hat, gloves
— school appropriate clothing, comply with LCHS dress code
— laundry supplies: detergent, fabric softener, stain remover, etc
— school supplies (see school supply list)
— spending money: $15-20 per week recommended
— medications: dorm parents will be notified of all medications
— memorabilia: family pictures, reminders of home
— alarm clock: must be different than internet connectable device

What is a typical day like at the dorm?2018-08-24T10:22:30-06:00

A day at the dorm begins with Bible devotions and breakfast. Students attend school classes from 8:20am-3:24pm. Sports practice and homework are common activities between school hours and supper. A mandatory study hall is implemented to encourage good academic behavior

What do I do on weekends?2018-08-24T10:22:30-06:00

Saturday activities include free time, homework, and dorm group activities. All students attend church services on Sunday mornings followed by free time.

What do I do on Holidays?2018-08-24T10:22:30-06:00

On Holidays it depends on the length of the Holiday and how far away their family is. Students will stay with community members.

What is Dorm Weekend Out?2018-08-24T10:22:30-06:00

Dorm Weekend Out is a monthly opportunity for students to visit in community family homes. Students are assigned by the Dorm Committee to a host family who is a respected and contributing member of the Lustre community. This weekend is a chance to get one-on-one time with a family who will include in their everyday activities which may include farming, ranching, gardening, baking, trips to town, and more.

Can I have visitors at the dorm?2018-08-24T10:22:30-06:00

Visitors are welcome at the dorm. All visitors must check in with dorm parents upon arrival. If you would like to have out of town guests, please get approval from dorm staff prior to visitation.
