Dorm Day-Off

Once a week, dorm staff are given a day off.  During Dorm Day-Off (DDO), dorm students are taken by host families in the community after they are dismissed from school.  Host families watch over them and serve dinner, making sure that students do their homework even while they are not in the dorm.  They transport the students back to the dorm in time for evening devotions.  Once a month, the dorm staff are given a weekend off instead of the usual day off.  During Dorm Weekend Out (DWO), each dorm student is housed by a host family from Friday night to Sunday night, providing meals and opportunities for leisure and building relationships with the host family.  The same thing happens when there is a holiday break, such as Thanksgiving, the Christmas holiday, Spring Break, etc. The Dorm Committee is in charge of finding host families for DDO and DWO, except for Christmas break when the dorm is closed and the boarding students are the ones responsible for finding hosts (with the knowledge and approval of their parents/guardians) if they are not spending the holidays with their own families.
