Saturday night we were invited to a community family’s home for games and food! Meet Justyn and Kim Klatt. As you can see, Kim is an energetic, fun-loving person. She grew up here in Lustre on the same yard with her grandparents. Justyn is also from a agriculture background, in North Dakota. They have 3 children. The Klatts are one of the Dorm Committee families.
When we first arrived on their yard the students got busy checking out the animals. On the yard there were cats, chickens and yak. A yak in Montana?! They also have cows and bison out to pasture. The kids were enamored with the many cats, who got a lot of loving while we were there.
Since it was such a beautiful summer evening, we played a rowdy game of kickball before supper. The teams were a mix of dorm students, adults, and young kids. We had fun cheering on our less athletic team mates, hollering for our fast runners, and razzing the opponent. No one kept score, it was the fellowship and camaraderie that was important.
After all that exercise everyone was hungry! Kim put together a generous buffet of Super Nachos for supper. Um, um good! Some of us ate outside and then joined the others inside for dessert. The conversation varied from favorite football teams to favorite pets. The girls were all interested in Kim’s house decorating skills.
It was a late night; arriving back home around 10:00pm. The evening ended with more outdoors games: capture-the-flag soccer and kick the can. As well as the card game, “spoons.” Thank you Justyn and Kim for a wonderful, fun-filled evening of laughter and activity!
