Homework already!
This morning went really well with all the students appearing at breakfast awake and on time. They grabbed their bags and headed out. While the students were at class, Lucas and I ran to town for a few errands and more importantly, to pick up Etien from the airport. He made it for the last two class periods of the day.
We were waiting on the steps after school to capture the kid’s reactions. It was an overwhelming day for our new students; it was a eye opener for the returning students. Summer, surely, is over! Teachers handed out packets of notes and syllabus with smiles on their faces which the students took with trepidation. Lucas’ favorite quote from today is taken from Jackie’s phone conversation to her mother, in response to the homework load, “Mom, it’s a higher educational institute!” This is not a school for the weak at heart but for those who are determined to do their best and rise to the teacher’s challenge.
