Basketball season is here!  Practices officially started on Thursday, November 16th.  Our girls team is just 7 players this year, but have a lot of potential.  The boys team is large, with enough players for full JV and Varsity teams.  The teams will be practicing daily after school and may have occasional Saturday games.  The season game schedule is posted on the school’s website under Athletics >Boy’s Basketball or >Girl’s Basketball.

We encourage all our dorm students to be involved in basketball, whether as a player or manager.  Students who are new to LCHS must follow the 90 day transfer rules before playing on a Varsity team.  However, during those 90 days, the student may play on a JV team.  Being a basketball team member goes beyond the sport itself.  Basketball provides a platform for team work, exercise, and friendship.  Students who choose to perform in a manager role, are required to practice with the team for the first two weeks.  This builds strength among the team.  Another role that students fill during basketball season is in Food Concessions.  Students prep food, fill orders, and clean-up for each home game.  The money raised in concessions is used for the Junior and Senior class accounts.

The LCHS staff and Lustre community cheers and encourages the ball players loudly and proudly.  Parents faithfully follow their child to ball games, whether at home or away.  Community families rally around our Dorm students to make them feel a part of a family as well.  Several of our students this year are first year ball players; we are excited to see them show effort and be teachable in this new arena.  Finding the Lustre crowd in a gymnasium is easy,  look for royal blue and white.  We wear our school colors with pride and boldness.
