One of the specialties of having a house full of international students is the opportunities to taste foods from their countries. Over dorm-weekend-out Subash cooked Nepalese food for his host family. They even indulged him by eating it with their fingers! Once he had their vote of confidence, Subash was eager to cook for us at the dorm.

Subash made up a list of ingredients he would need, then he and Naomi found the items in Albertsons. The most important items are the proper spices. Naomi would have thoroughly enjoyed going to a Nepalese market with him! Subash worked up two different chicken dishes. The first was a traditional chicken soup that he assured us if you ate at any Nepalese restaurant, you would be served this exact dish. The second dish was chicken and sauce, rich in spice and flavor, served over jasmine rice. Western United States cuisine is so bland comparatively! Subash made us the mild version so everyone could enjoy, but apparently it can be spiced up to whatever heat level you can tolerate.

Lucas told Subash that he would endear himself to many people with his cooking. All the dorm students enjoyed his dishes with lots of praise. Unfortunately, I was so excited about eating the food I missed the opportunity to capture a full plate of food.

Thank you Subash for serving us!!
