Our dorm students literally come from anywhere in the world. Most of our American students are coming here looking for new beginnings, a place to start over. Lustre is a unique, Montana culture. From the school yard we can see miles and miles of rich, dry-land fields and at times herds of black Angus cattle. Our winters are cold and snowy; we literally have 9 months of winter. (Bring your warm clothes!) Our summers are hot and dry.
Amazingly, most people do not look Lustre up on Google Earth before coming to LCHS. Let me tell you, checking us out on the web will help you prepare for life here. Take my advice; I’m from Southern Montana and even I have learned new things about life on the prairie.
Dorm students are introduced to farm and ranch life. When they are invited to community homes, our students get involved in activities such as chasing cows, fencing, driving ranch vehicles, baking, chores, building snowmen, snowmobiling, branding, shooting rifles, and more. What an unusual and memorable experience!
