September began with the typical American Labor Day holiday. Unfortunately, the long weekend was rainy and cold. But then the weather brightened up enough that the farmers were able to continue getting their harvest in, although rainy days were intermittently annoying yet. School classes were off to a great start; a highlight class for dorm students is Art with Mrs. Reddig.
These are highlights from September:
Gabriella arrives from Italy, accompanied by her older brother.
Family movie night in Dorm Parent apartment.
Supper and fellowship at Olfert’s with Mr. Butler
See-you-at-the-Pole: pancake breakfast before school sponsored by StuCo
Community men tear out sidewalk and pour new sidewalk in front of the dorm.
hanging out around the Young’s campfire, talking and eating sweets
The dorm hosted families for supper and others invited the dorm students into their homes. It is always refreshing for the students to visit community family homes. These special times help the students learn more about the community personalities and way of life as well as allows for the dorm student to share his/her culture with others in a small, personal setting.
A BIG thank you to all who have contributed to the success of the dorm so far this year!
