Dear Students, Parents, and Families,

On behalf of Lustre Christian High School staff, I am happy to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. My name is Ric Cattell, and as you may be aware, Mr. Burkhart retired last year. I was hired as the new principal for Lustre Christian High School. Dr. Lee is the principal for the elementary school and taking on the role of the superintendent. My wife and I are excited to be here and ready to serve our new community. I have taught in Ohio, Wuhan, China, and Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children achieve their highest potential. We recognize that our children need support from both the home and school to be successful in school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a significant difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our duties. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that they:

  1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
  2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
  3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
  4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
  5. Informs you if they need additional support in any area or subject
  6. Knows that you expect them to succeed in school and go on to college

If you have any questions about the rules and expectations, please feel free to discuss them with your child’s teacher or contact me. You and your child must be fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year. The student handbook will be sent home today. I strongly encourage you and your student to read and understand it. The signature page needs to be signed and returned to school as soon as possible.

To help us maintain our gym floors in the best condition possible, we ask that all students bring a pair of non-marking shoes that they will only use during the times they play, compete, or are involved in PE classes during the school year.

The excellent LCHS staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support, and I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Ric Cattell
School Principal
