Congratulations, you are enrolled at Lustre Christian High School! Now it is time to prepare for the coming school year and dorm living.
Any transition is difficult. At LCHS we understand the monumental task of preparing and making the move to a new place. Not only will you be attending a new school, you will be starting a new life in a new place. We want to help you make this transition a smooth one. There are many Lustre community families who are already praying for you and eager to meet you!
Let me give you a quick tour through your new home! Our two story building has a boy’s wing and a girl’s wing with separate entrances.
Dorm bedrooms are designed for two students with twin size (single) beds, bedside tables, built-in desks with bookshelf and chair, desk lamp, closet space, dresser, trash can, and full-length wall mirror.
Boarding students are required to provide all of his/her personal items while living at the dorm.
Whether you pack it in your suitcase, or buy it once you arrive, use the following list as your guide:
— bedding for single bed: sheets, blankets, pillows
— bath towels, washcloths, bath robe, night clothes/pajamas
— bedroom necessities: closet hangers, bedside alarm clock, wall decorations
— bathroom effects: shampoo & conditioner, deodorant, body soap, hair accessories, etc
— winter clothing: coat, boots, hat, gloves
— school appropriate clothing, comply with LCHS dress code
— laundry supplies: detergent, fabric softener, stain remover, etc
— school supplies (see school supply list)
— spending money: $15-20 per week recommended
— medications: dorm staff will be notified of all medications
— memorabilia: family pictures, reminders of home
— alarm clock: must be different than internet connectable device
Each wing has two stories with four bedrooms and one large common bathroom located on each floor. Bathroom features include two showers, two toilet stalls, double sink vanity, and wall length make-up vanity.
The Gathering Room is located on the first floor of the dorm where boys and girls can mingle under staff supervision. Students spend their free hours here playing games, availing the internet, completing homework with staff assistance or watching movies. A kitchenette provides full service access to appliances and personal food preparation aside from meal time. Personal appliances are not allowed in dorm rooms. Students are fed well with three hearty, nutritional, daily meals prepared by caring staff.
Self-service laundry is available in each wing. Lustre Christian maintains a conservative dress code as listed in the LCHS Student Handbook. Students are responsible for weekly dorm cleaning, including the care and appearance of their bedrooms.
The dorm is located on the LCHS school campus and in close proximity to staff housing. Dorm students have easy access to the gymnasium, fitness room, track, baseball field, soccer field, outdoor basketball court, and computer lab under staff supervision.
Students are required to provide all his/her school supplies. School supplies are not included in tuition fees. The following supply list is a guideline:
– Backpack or book bag
– Water bottle, must have clear sides
– 2G (minimum) USB flash drive
– 5 book covers
– 2 each 3” 3-ring binders
– 2 packs of 5 tab dividers for 3-ring binder
– 3 each 1.5” 3-ring binders
– Holy Bible: English or English parallel with national language
– College ruled notebook paper for 3 ring binder
– No. 2 pencils or mechanical pencils

– Scientific calculator, TI-83 or higher

Our dormitory supports the LCHS mission and allows students a home-away-from-home in a family-style atmosphere. LCHS hires full-time dorm staff who love working with teens and have a heart for ministry; one dorm staff couple lives in the staff apartment of the dorm. Students come to Lustre from many different countries and backgrounds. Dorm life is an unique experience, tailored for those who are wanting to learn and grow.
