Lustre Christian High School is able to keep tuition and boarding costs low due to sponsors and donors who believe in the LCHS mission.  Many alumni and community members  support the school on a regular basis through monthly giving or as needs arise.  The largest annual fund raiser sponsored by LCHS is Schmeckfest.  This festival of German tastes is hosted in March.  A community wide event, the students and families prepare weeks in advance.  The night of the festival participants enjoy a German meal, bid at a silent and live auction, and are entertained with a drama and musical program.

Five of our dorm students were included in the dramatization of Biblical parables.  Keira was a lady, Ashley was a farmer, Gabriella was a woman who lost a coin, Harry was a lost sheep, and Kirubel was a gentleman.  The students did a fabulous job remembering their lines and expressing the story.  Ironically, the students were parted well to match the personalities of the role they played.  The play was directed by LCHS Speech and Drama teacher, Mrs. Traeholt.

The conclusion of the program was Brady’s Lustre debut on his fiddle.  This had been a well kept secret all year.  Brady was accompanied on bass by his cousin Levi, drums by M. Butler, and on electric guitar by D. Reddig.  The guys played several songs.  The audience got into it and clapped for a song or two.  Good ol’ boot stomping music.
