Fall semester 2015 has come to a close. Looking back to August, we see 4 returning and 5 new students who have bonded to create an unofficial family from cultures all around the globe. They have reached a tight camaraderie that is most noticeable around the mealtime table.
We are sad to have to let one of the “sisters” go back home. When Hannah first arrived, all we heard about was Gloucester this and Gloucester that. I don’t think any of us will forget the town of Gloucester, VA, USA! Hannah is a girl we will not forget: hugging hay bales with Jackie, target shooting & clays with Pastor John, petting any animal she could find, trying new sports, making us laugh until we couldn’t breath, pranking Michael with Aleyna and Jackie. I wonder how many times she says Lustre in a day now? Hannah changed a lot while she was here at LCHS and some days were just plain hard. But we know that God brought her here in his perfect timing. We wish her the best as she continues to journey her way to maturity.
We miss you Hannah!
Spring semester 2016 begins today. With the new semester comes a new face: meet Subash (soo`boss) from Nepal, an 11th grader! He received a cold Montana welcome of -16*F/-27*C. Although his last flight leg was cancelled, providentially he was picked up in Billings and rode the rest of the way with our dorm committee chairman. So far I would say he is friendly, open minded and looking for new opportunities. We are excited to get to know him better.
Welcome to Lustre, Subash!
We are also happy to welcome Robel from Ethiopia. Arriving a week late, he had just enough time to make his bed and sleep before starting school Monday morning. Thankfully he was able to fly into our local airport with no trouble, including his two oversize bags. All of us are still attempting to say Robel’s name correctly, with its initial rolled /r/ and an /e/ that says /i/ plus a stopped /l/ sound! Robel is a quiet 10th grader but has already fit in well with our other guys. Hopefully they will be able to bring him out of his shell as he gets comfortable here.
Welcome to LCHS, Robel!
